Reside romantically in the Attic of the Palace Garden Hotel

Sitting by the gentle sizzling noise of the lobby’s fireside, a glass of red wine and listening to Vivaldi or Mozart. As easy it is to enjoy a pleasent stay in the Bordures-, Wild-Roses- or Anemones-Room as comfy and cushy it gets in the Ivy- or Purpure-Room beneath the pitch of the roof. It is a place of refuge just to feel good and relax. The good and delicious Brandenburg breakfast-buffet served in the Victorian winter garden keeps nothing left to be desired, as our guests are used to.

The hospitable Potsdam and the Schlossgarten Hotel

Mozarts visit

Not only the Prussian electors and kings who made Potsdam a unique scenery of parks and gardens enjoyed the city. In 1789 Mozart was told that Frederick William II played the cello and that he maintained a magnificent court orchestra. Thus Mozart did not need to think long before travelling to Potsdam willing to play for the monarch, hoping for a new source of income. In that time he created his last piano sonata, Köchel number 576, whereby Princess Friederike of Prussia presumably had more than an insignificant part in.

The Dutch Quarter in Potsdam

In the course of the city’s second expansion between 1733 and 1744, supervised by the Dutch master builder Jan Boumann, Potsdam intended to create a touch of home for the many, likewise, Dutch craftsmen. Therefore the Dutch Quarter was built which still today attracts thousands of visitors every year.

The Russian Colony Alexandrowka

Furthermore the Russian Colony Alexandrowka in the northern part of Potsdam may not be forgotten. Between 1826 and 1827 King Frederick William III had it built for 12 Russian singers who were part of a formerly existing choir counting 62 soldiers.
