Castles

The Schlossgarten Hotel is located in the centre of the unforgettable castle landscape Potsdam. In ten minutes walking you can reach the "New Palais", an impressive building that is located at the main alley in the Park Sanssouci. The wellknown Castle Sanssouci can be reached in 20 minutes by foot. The Castle Charlottenhof, planned by Schinkel in a classical way, is also only ten minutes away. In the direct near of the hotel there are the Roman Baths and the Chinese Teahouse. The "Drachenhaus", the Nicolai church and the Orangery with its big greenhouses are only 20 minutes away from the Schlossgarten Hotel. The "Friedenskirche" is located in the east of the park and the "Marmorpalais" and the "Cecilienhof" are a little more far away in the New Garden. The Castle Glienicke and the Castle Babelsberg are also in the east and southeast about 6 kilometres away from the hotel.

Parks

Directly located at the Schlossgarten Hotel the beautiful Park Sanssouci with its castles invites you to stroll around. Since 1990 it belongs to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. The landscape architect J. Lenne planned this wonderful park in the 19th century. The park landscape of Potsdam and Berlin sprawls along many lakes and is in its variety of monuments an in its size worldwide unique. In many parks, castles temples, churchs, water landscapes and a lot more offer you a great cultural heritage that has been emerged over 200 years for the electors of Brandenburg, prussian kings and german emperors. The buildings and the landscape architecture perfectly show the different kinds of styles in the different eras. So you have Baroque and Rococo castles that are surrounded by strictly structured parks with many sculptures, classic buildings in big gardens and phantastic creations from the eras of Romantic and Historicism. With its size of over 500 ha and more than 150 heritage-protected buildings, the whole park landscape is only discoverable in many weeks.

On the terrain of the horticultural show "BUGA 2001" a beautiful theme park (Volkspark) has emerged. Throughout the whole year cultural events and highlights for young and old can be visited here. You can reach the Volkspark in about 45 minutes by the local public transport. The Park Babelsberg is also reachable in about 45 minutes via local public transport.

Restaurants

Potsdam also has a lot to offer when it comes to culinary highlights. Who stays at the Schlossgarten Hotel, is always in the direct near to a lot of great restaurants. The "Trattoria Toscana" offers great Italian food and also the "Esmeralda" is worth a visit. The Mövenpick restaurant "Zur historischen Mühle" is directly opposite to the Schlossgarten Hotel and invites you with its big terrace. Here you can also find a playground for children. For lovers of the Greek kitchen, the "Athos" offers good food. The "Klosterkeller" is perfect for a rustic evening. Other good restaurants are the "Juliette" and the "Villa von Hacke", the "Dreimäderlhaus" and the "Pfeffer und Salz. The "Krongut Bornsted" invites guests to stay for a little while.

Bars

Potsdam offers a lot of opportunities to spend a nice and relaxing evening in several bars. You can enjoy the nightlife of Potsdam and have only a few minutes to walk until you reach bars, clubs and other locations. Only a short time of walking is needed to reach the "Pache Mama", the "Waschbar" and the "B-West". The "Craddocks" is directly located in the centre of Potsdam and also the "Irish Pub" and the "On The Rocks" are easy to find. You should also visit the "Rossini", the "Bar Gelb", the "Unscheinbar" or the "Happy Hour" to find a wonderful end to a beautiful day.
